Deir Ezor is an agricultural Governorate with an area of / 33600 / km and a population of over / 1.35 / million people, of whom 35% in the city and 65% in rural areas.
Elements of investment in the governorate of Deir Ezor:
v The distinguished location of the governorate maintained as a gateway to Iraq, the Arabian Gulf and to Turkey via the nearby town of Hassake.
v Providing a significant and stable source of water through the Euphrates River, which is the primary instigator of many of the investments in various sectors.
v Industrial zones and industrial city in the process of implementing the first phase of infrastructures, which will form the main farm of the industrial investments in the eastern region.
v Appropriate infrastructures (roads - communications - electricity - a railway line - an international civil airport - hotels - banks - insurance companies - a free zone).
v Ancient historical and cultural heritage, antiquities and river objects with fascinating nature.
v Large areas of none invested agricultural lands.
v Availability of raw materials for investments such as agricultural products (wheat - cotton - corn - barley - vegetables - fruits ...) and the availability of large numbers of livestock, like cows, sheep, goats, camels and horses ... And large quantities of milk, meat, leather and wool.
v Availability of qualified manpower with cheap wages.
The advantages of the industrial city of Deir Ezor:
· The city nearness of the foreign crossing points.
· Easy international linking with Iraq, Iran and the proximity to the Turkish borders (the neighboring countries and the European Union).
· Availability of workers housing area under study.
· Availability of cheap and trained workforce.
· Providing a local market for many products.
· The availability of raw materials for industries, especially the (Food - Textile - chemicals) industries.
· The availability of water in large quantities via the Euphrates River and the electricity through the nearby station.
· The existence of special prices for blocks and the easiness of payment and installment.
· Low prices of services (electricity - water) in the industrial city from the outside.
· The possibility of transporting gas and fuel due to its proximity to oil resources, the gas plant and the proposed refineries.
· The existence of exemptions and tax cuts for businesses and enterprises established in the industrial city of Deir Ezor.
The objective of establishing the city is to create the optimal climate for the local and foreign industrial investment through the processing of lands for building the industrial facilities and plants with infrastructures (roads - water – waste water - electricity - phone - parks ...), workers housing and public facilities and facilitating the establishment of these plants and facilities through the simplification of the administrative procedures through the one stop shop.
Phases of work in the industrial city:
The industrial city is located north of the city of Deir Ezor on the road to Deir Ezor - Hasaka and /15/ km away from the city of Deir Ezor. The total number of the blocks is (771) industrial blocks divided into three phases:
First phase: From 2007-2010, the number of blocks are (32) distributed over /120 / blocks of food industries, / 63 / blocks of textile industries, / 92 / blocks of chemical industries and / 48 / blocks of engineering industries.
Second phase: From 2010 – 2013, the number of blocks are (324) distributed over / 18 / blocks of food industries, / 68 / blocks of textile industries, / 89 / blocks of chemical industries and / 140 / blocks of engineering industries.
Third phase: From 2013 – 2018, the number of blocks are (124) distributed over / 40 / blocks of food industries, / 17 / blocks of textile industries and / 67 / blocks of engineering industries.
With the availability of a number of features and facilities in the city, particularly the one stop shop service which allowed investors to get the decision of the inclusion and the industrial decision from the industrial city directly, taking into consideration that that the stages of the subscription, allocation and receiving of blocks are done in less than one hour, in addition to lower charges for construction, permits, electricity and water within the city than the outside to the half, as well as large tax cuts given to the Eastern region in general. So, the city made the demand is increasing.
The total number of the subscribed enterprises in the industrial city are / 34 / enterprises, including /10 / enterprises included in the provisions of the Investment Promotion Act, and / 18 / blocks in the industrial city have been allocated for the establishment of industrial enterprises.
