Industrial City of Adra
Location: The Industrial City of Adra is located in the northern east of the city of Damascus, by a distance of about 35 km at the north and south of Damascus – Baghdad Road, near Damascus International Airport and is linked to highways and railway train and Damascus Ring Motorway and the Great North Damascus Road to ease transition and transfer of materials and products and to the reduce the production costs in addition to the mild climate of the city and the availability of skilled labor.

 - The gross area of the city and the land distribution:
The city has a total area of / 7000 / ha, including:
/ 3500/ ha for industrial divisions.
  • / 60 / ha for the Management Centers.
  • / 60 / ha for the Commercial Centers
  • / 1400 / ha of green areas, including the Green Belt to the main roads.
  • / 1330 / ha for the workers and labors accommodations.
  • / 650 / ha for the main roads.

- Industrial divisions:

The city contains / 12000 / industrial divisions distributed as follows:
  • / 5800 / divisions with an area of / 150-600 / m².
  • / 6000 / divisions with an area of / 1200-4800 / m².
  • / 200 / divisions with an area of / 9600 / m².
Further divisions may be integrated depending on space required. Industries in the city have been distributed taking into account the environmental impact and the wind direction / Food - tissue - engineering - chemical /.

- Estimated costs:
The estimated gross cost for the city is /31/ billion Syrian pounds, implemented in 12 stages, ending in 2025.

- Subsidies provided by the State:
The total cumulative value of state subsidies amounted to SYP1.776 billion until the year 2006, in addition to financing power transfer stations under a loan from the Arab Economic and Social Development Fund, totaling / 4 / million Kuwaiti dinars and other benefits provided in the coming years when needed.
 
- Sources of Water:
- Drinking & Industrial water in the industrial city of Adra is from the area' wells which were dug by the management of the Industrial City, and there will be a future source of water for industrial purposes after the completion of the implementation of the water treatment plant
 
 - Climate:
- Average annual relative dryness is between (16.3° and the maximum is 24.5° in August).
- Temperatures range from absolute -9°C in December to be 44.7°C in July.
- Avarage relative humidity is 61.2% and it declines in the month of June to reach 44.7%, while it rises in the month of December and the second to 77%. The prevailing winds in the industrial city is Western and the south-western wind whilst the north-eastern and eastern winds are blown in a lesser extent, especially in the autumn and winter months and wind speed reaches up to 25-30 m/s.
 
- Studies, and implementation and the cumulative expenditure:

- Preparations for studies were launched at the beginning of 1998 and the implementations were started at the beginning of 2002.
- The total value of the cumulative expenditure up to mid-2006 has reached approximately 3.205 billion Syrian pounds.
- The completion of the infrastructure implementation / roads - water - electricity - sewage - phones - gardens). The first stage covered an area of 400 hectares, the second stage area was 800 hectares, the third stage area was 1768 hectares, all of which were already launched, in addition to the services buildings / phone departments – fire stations - clinics – police station – One Stop Shop - Management/, also the government banks buildings are being implemented such as / The Commercial - Industrial – Real estate and the Insurance Banks / since the beginning of 2007.

- The reality of investment and the selling prices of the industrial divisions: / was held on 31/9/2006 /:
The initial price per square meter of industrial division was / SYP900 / plus the cost of electricity transfer stations.
- Number of industrialist subscribers: / 5391 / for the total area of 3533422m².
- The number of investors allocated with divisions: /1822 /for the total area of 3903603m².
- The number of building permits: / 804 / construction permits.
- The number of factories already built: / 406 / factories.
- The number of working factories: / 26 / factories.
- The total value of the dedicated (allocated) divisions: / 3.513 / billion Syrian pounds.
- The gross value of incomes (one third of the value of divisions + premium): 1.924billion Syrian pounds.
 - The industrial city construction regulation system:
The construction regulation system is applied according to the industrial division areas and is distributed over several categories, as follows:
- Category I: from 150m² to 600m², the building proportion shall be 50%
- Category II: from 1200m² to 4800m², the building proportion shall be 50%
- Category III: from 6900m² and above the building proportion shall be 50%.
With possibility to change the dimensions of the front and rear and side yards according to the space categories.
